BT ( British Telecom ) have always been at the cutting edge when it somes to the provisioning of DECT phones for the home or office.
The most recent model I have looked at is the BT Graphite 1500 Digital phone. I was first drawn to this phone due to its environmental credentials, it being a part BT’s Greener phone range which reduce energy comsumption by 30%. Naturally reduction in energy consumption means that your household electricity bills will be lowered as will your carbon footprint.
The telephone is also DECT and GAP which means that it is fully expandable into a mini telephone system. Each additional handset can be registered to the base station. allowing both call transfer and intercom between handsets.
Feature wise this BT Telephone has it all, it allows call waiting, alarm clock, 12 minutes digital recording tim e on its answer machine and even a memo facility for leaving messages internally.
DECT phones have a range of up to 300 metres in a clear line of sight which is reduced by impedence from walls and other objects. Generally you can achieve up to 50 metres in a house.
